I am a Licensed Massage
Therapist, specializing in Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) and Craniosacral
Therapy (CST). There are many excellent massage therapists in the mid-coast LDT is a gentle, hands-on technique which helps cleanse and strengthen
the body's immune system. Undergoing LDT treatments regularly also benefits
every other system in the body. The lymph system is comprised of superficial and deep vessels and
pathways that propel lymph (consisting primarily of blood plasma and
white blood cells) through the body to the lymph nodes. The superficial
vessels and pathways are located just beneath the surface of the skin.
In bathing the body's tissues, the lymph picks up proteins, toxins,
hormones, fatty acids, and immune cells and transports them to the lymph
nodes for processing. When factors such as stress, infections, fatigue,
and emotional shock compromise the lymph system, toxins, cells, proteins
and other fluids accumulate and impair the body's cellular functioning.
In addition to reducing stress and tension, PTSD, allergies, migraines
and edemas, and increasing post-operative tissue healing, LDT is helpful
in lessening wrinkles, cellulite and fatty deposits. CST addresses
impairments in the body's craniosacral system—membranes and cerebrospinal
fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Craniosacral fluids encased
inside a membranous sac rhythmically pump from the cranium (the bones
of the skull, face and mouth) down to the sacrum (tailbone). Any imbalance
in the flow of these fluids can trigger a variety of sensory, neurological
and motor disorders. This therapy is particularly beneficial for
chronic
neck and back pain, brain trauma, scoliosis and joint problems and chronic
fatigue. I graduated from the Downeast School of
Massage in 1994, after which I began taking classes in energy field
therapy and Reike healing. In 1997 I began in-depth training and studies
of LDT with |
